Dog Joint Pain
Dog joint pain can be caused by a few different factors,
some of which can be controlled in order to minimize or end
the pain altogether. First, if your dog is overweight, this
can and will put additional stress on his joints, causing
him to feel pain whenever he moves. If his weight problem is
not treated immediately, the joint condition can deteriorate
into arthritis, which is both painful and debilitating.
Second, if your dog suffers from hip dysplasia, a genetic
condition that literally means your dog has a badly formed
hip, he will likely feel pain upon movement. The ball and
socket joint in the hips should fit together snugly, and
when they don't, cartilage wears down causing dog joint
pain. It can be agonizing watching your dog that you
love so much limp around with dog joint pain. Although
it may seem like there is nothing you can do to help
alleviate his pain, rest assured that you do have some
treatment options. First and foremost, you should get
your dog into see the vet as soon as you suspect
something is amiss. If your dog is normally very active
and suddenly becomes immobile, or whines when touched,
the culprit could be hip dysplasia or arthritis.
In all likelihood, your vet will want to run some tests
to rule out any other underlying health issues, such as
cancer or Lyme Disease, which is caused by infected deer
ticks. If all tests come out clear, then your vet will
probably take some X-rays of your dog's joints, to see
if there is any swelling or deterioration of the
cartilage. It will also be possible to detect hip
dysplasia from the X-rays, so it is wise to consent to
such tests. Putting an End to Dog Joint Pain

dysplasia and/or arthritis, you may want to consider
